If a newborn could talk, what would it say

Would it tell of the place it had lived til today

Would it tell of the silence and the quiet peace

Of floating in liquid with a measured beat

Would it tell of the wonder of breathing life

And tell of the struggle of bringing life to light.

If a newborn could talk it could make us see

The experience we forgot of the primordial sea

It could reveal the mystery man tries to solve

Of the beginning of life as explained by law

And make us ashamed that we have sought

To destroy the lives Christ's blood has bought.
